Selection Committee

The Carrier Medal laureates are selected through a rigorous and confidential review process. The Selection Committee comprises eminent scientists and academic leaders appointed by the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame.

Members serve fixed terms and are drawn from a broad spectrum of disciplines, institutions, and countries to ensure scientific diversity, integrity, and impartiality.

While committee members are not publicly named during their term, past members may be acknowledged after a designated period.

The committee considers:

• Scientific originality and impact
• Contribution to the advancement of human knowledge
• Influence on the education and training of scientists
• Potential to inspire future generations

All deliberations and materials remain confidential to preserve the independence of the process.
